Are you looking for a fun adventure with a touch of mystery & intrique!

How about floating through an underground galaxy world of glow-worms, experiencing the fun of rainforest river tubing and a cliff jump (optional).

This is a relaxing half day adventure that is fun, is in a beautiful place and takes you into an unusal cave environment with it's glow-worms.

You can add some more adrenaline with an optional cliff jump or an abseil down to the top of the river tubing section. You'll also have a fun experience with local Maori Cave Legends.

Would you like to finish up with a relaxing hot shower and spa with a drink and a snack afterwards? Yes!... Then this trip is for you. Our glow-worm cave rafting ( we are actually on tubes and not rafts!) adventure is flexible and can provide as much or as little challenge as you are comfortable with. Every trip is different depending on who is on them so they can suit all abilities and ages down to as young as 6 years. As your adventure is also based on the South Island's West Coast there are no crowds and no time limits. Team Building, educational objectives or leadership skills can be included for groups.

The trip starts with putting on our cave gear at our base in Greymouth. You'll get thermal clothes to keep you warm and comfortable, a wetsuit, socks and river shoes, helmet and life jacket. We then drive you for 30 minutes to an easy practice river where we teach you the art of river tubing and make sure everyone is happy being on a tube in the river.

You'll then take a 15 minute walk with your tube through the rainforest to the start of the river tubing. This is a beautiful and fun section of river with some gentle rapids. You'll be joined together with other tubers to provide a stable "snake" of tubes but you can increase the challenge level by tubing the rapids on your own... (dependant on river levels)

Your river tubing takes us to the cave entrance where we will get some protection against the Maori Legendary Taniwha's, these are underground Dragons that keep you if you venture into their world!!!

This starts your float up into the cave done in the dark to the light of a galaxy of glow-worms in the roof. At the end of the float section we will spend some time with the glow-worms while having a hot drink and chocolate bar to keep us going before floating back out finishing with a tube jump. (optional)

Your adventure with us is one of intrigue, anticipation and even a touch of romance. People are able to choose to do what they want, some do everything while others just do what they are comfortable with as everything is optional.
The place to meet for your trip is at our base in the centre of Greymouth. This is on the main highway near the town centre next door to McDonalds in a lime green building! The adress is 8 Whall Street, Greymouth. You do need to book ahead. The optional cliff jump does not cost any extra but if you want to do an abseil then this costs more and must be specified when booking. See the abseil booking option below.

Trip departures:
Twice daily 08.00am and 2:00pm. (1:15pm April to Oct) 7 days a week from Greymouth. Other times by arrangement. Meet at 8 Whall Street, Greymouth. Morning tours are finished in time to catch the Tranz-Alpine Train or afternoon coaches.

Location:
Greymouth. We are only 200 metres from many of the hostels & hotels in Greymouth and only 2 minutes walk from the Coach & train Station. We are located in the town centre next to McDonalds in a lime green building. You need sun glasses to look at it! You can make the afternoon tours if you arrive on the coach or train. Bring your luggage to our base where we will lock it up for you.
Time to Allow: Basic trip 5 hours return to Greymouth. With abseil allow 6 hours.

Important Information.
Where do I meet? Cave Rafting adventures start by reporting into our base in the Greymouth town centre next to McDonalds. It is a bright green building, you need sun glasses to look at it, with the address 8 Whall Str, Greymouth
Is there any food? You get a hot drink and chocolate bar in the cave plus a drink and muffin back at the spa after your trip but this is not a meal. We reccommend that you have a good meal before the activity.
What does the company supply? We supply all equipment including, thermal tops and leggings, wetsuits, socks, boots and polyprop underwear for those without their own swimsuits. Gloves, woolen jerseys & inner booties are also supplied to keep you toasty warm at all times during your adventure if you think you feel the cold and in winter. If possible, wear your bathing costume under your clothes before coming to our base. We do have changing facilities with showers & a spa. Bring a swimsuit (or change of underwear) & a towel.

What is the pleasure spa? The trip finishes with hot showers and an indoor heated spa in which you are welcome to relax for as long as you like after your trip. Usually visitors spend about 45 minutes of the trips 5 hours in the spa at trips conclusion. Those people wishing to get away early can do so by bringing their own vehicle to the Cave Rafting Base in Greymouth and departing from there as soon as they are ready.We also supply a hot drink and a snack during this time but note that this is not a meal.

What if I need to cancel?: Once you are booked, if you do not turn up or if some-one in your group does not go then the credit card you use to make your booking is charged in full. So you need to be sure everyone does want to go. You can cancel outside of 72 hours and there is no charge. We advise you to take out travel insurance.

Will the trip vary from what is described above? There may be times when we have to vary the trip from what is described above due to river and cave water levels or for other considerations to help keep you safe. If there are any major differences we will inform you before departing on the trip so you can decide if you still want to go or not. It is always a good idea for you to check with any tour operator on arrival at their office to ensure you are about to do the tour you understand you are booked on. We have in the past had people leave our base with the wrong group and they ended up doing a completely different trip. Check with us on arrival if you are not sure.
