5 Day NZ Golf TourItinerary 17 - the 5 Day NZ Golf Tour. Please contact us to discuss this tour. This fully escorted package golf tour starts and finishes in Christchurch. It includes visits to 3 golf courses in the South Island plus some recommended sightseeing. Extra golfing sessions can be arranged during the tour at an additional cost if required. It is an all inclusive tour and is very flexible allowing for activity choices during the tour. You can even split your group to do different activities at the same time. Day 1 You will be met at the Christchurch Airport where we will transfer
you to your accommodation in Christchurch City. Relax for the
rest of the day with your own free time in New Zealand's Garden
City. A golfing session can be arranged for today (own extra expense)
if you wish. This will depend on your arrival times into Christchurch
and how you are feeling at the time. Your guide will give you
a tour through the City and explain things to do this evening.
Ask at reception about any shows or plays that are on this evening
in the city and they will recommend to you a good restaurant.
We also recommend a visit to the International Antarctic Centre
and a ride through the city on the restored trams with a glass
of wine. (this is at your own additional expense) Day 2
Day 3 We suggest a half day golfing and half day scenic tour today. Your tour is flexible so you can decide depending on the weather and your energy level that day. There are 2 tours to choose from but everyone needs to do the same tour. As well as a half day golfing you can choose one of these two tours: Choice One A visit to the Paparoa Limestone National Park with its Pancake
Rocks and Blowholes. An all inclusive nature scenic tour that
visits the fascinating limestone formations of the Paparoa National
Park. We travel from Greymouth north along the stunning Coast Road to
Punakaiki, being the Maori word for "food basket" and
the home of the fascinating Pancake Rocks. Watch for the dolphins
and other wildlife often seen here. As near as possible to high tide take a stroll around the Pancake
Rocks Walkway to see the unique rock structures layered here 30
million years ago. Look out also for the roaring Geysers that
heave their way from the Ocean floor up out through the Rock Blowholes. Take a short easy interpretative Rain Forest walk where you will
learn about the ecology of NZ's temperate flora and how the local
Maori people gained their food and medicine from the forest. Or feel the spirit on a Myths and Legends Cavern Tour. Step into a forgotten world of caves misted with time and ancient maori legends. You will be led through the mysterious regions between oral history and myth. Follow the footsteps of Maori warriors and the early European explorers as you learn about maori underworld legends and explore this historic site. Note that some care is required as underfoot conditions are uneven. Choice Two A relaxing cruise by Jungle Boat amongst the primeval giants of
our rain forests. In the traditions of our early explorers, by
Jungle Boat we follow the route of 'Te Ara Pounamu' - the greenstone
pathway. This is part of the trail used by ancient Maori greenstone
jade traders on their way to the West Coast jade fields. Your
spirit will lead you to your choice of waka (boat). Choose from
taking a fun journey on the unique Maori outrigger canoe of the
type used to travel the great ocean currents of the Pacific or
be more relaxed in the inflatable jungle boats. For those individual
sprits paddle your own dugout canoe through the rainforest waterway
with your guide. Touch the silence while drifting by this prehistoric world of huge podocarp rainforest trees with some of the areas bird life. The dark waters ars is tinged with tannin from the rainforest giving you an eerie feeling of timelessness and spirituality. You will leave with a sense of rejuvenation from your visit with nature today. Enjoy a cup of Manuka Bush tea, glass of wine or fruit juice as you learn about the life and legends of the native Maori People and take home a piece of traditional flax weaving that we teach you to do during the flax weaving school we hold during the cruise. We drift quietly down the river for about one and a half hours where you are given natural history, Maori and ecology interpretation. The whole trip from Greymouth return is about 3 hours. Day 4 Today we travel south to Hokitika, the heart of the 1860's gold
rush. Goldmines still operate in this area so there is an opportunity
to see how this is done for those who are interested.
Day 5 This morning we have another round of golf at Greymouth before
we travel back to Christchurch by coach over the Southern Alps
via Otira Gorge and Arthurs Pass. This gives a completely different
view of the Alps compared to your trip on the train. We stop off
in the Alpine village of Arthurs Pass for some great photos and
visit a sheep station with lunch on the way. If you wish you can
join in some farm activities or watch the farmer and his amazing
dogs round up the sheep for you to meet! Your tour finishes on arrival in Christchurch. Note: Accommodation tonight is not included in your tour price. The Tour will finish at your nominated hotel (which we can arrange) or we will transfer you to the airport for your flight home. Have a look at the free offers and Spare Seat Travel Deals page as there may be discounted seats available on the days that you are visiting. Please contact us to discuss this tour. Cancellations: Tours paid for and cancelled within 30 days of or during travel will not be refunded under any circumstances. We recommend you have travel insurance & can arrange this for you. |
